Most practices book ten minutes. We book twenty, because a nervous dog needs a minute to settle, a cat needs to come out of the carrier on its own terms, and you need time to mention the thing you nearly forgot.

What happens in a consultation

A nurse weighs your pet and takes a temperature while you tell us what has been going on. Then the vet examines everything, not only the part you are worried about: eyes, ears, mouth, heart, lungs, belly, joints, skin and coat. You will hear what we find as we go.

If we need tests, we explain each one, what it might show and what it costs before we do it. Blood results from our own lab are usually back the same afternoon.

Same-day appointments

Every morning and every afternoon we keep slots free for pets that are unwell today. Call before 5pm and we will fit you in. If you are not sure whether it can wait, try the symptom checker or simply ring and ask; a nurse will tell you honestly.

Second opinions

Happy to. Ask your current vet to send the history and results, and book a 30-minute appointment so we have time to go through it properly.
